June has had a long and varied career in Television, Film, and on Stage. She is famously known for her role of Dot Branning nee Cotton in EastEnders. In 2009, June was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actress for her ‘single-hander’ episode of EastEnders.
Her other television credits include Coronation Street, Edna The Inebriate Woman, Doctor Who - The Time Warrior, Angels, Churchill's People, Minder, The Bill, Survivors, The Duchess of Duke Street, Oliver Twist, Ain't Misbehavin and Gormenghast.
On film June appeared in the British horror flick Psychomania, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Sitting Target, The 14, Murder by Decree, Nijinsky, The Mambo Kings, Mr Bean (The Movie), Straw Dogs and the mini-series Lace.
Theatre roles in her early career included Hedda Gabler and Lady Macbeth, later roles include Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca, An Inspector Calls, The Lion in Winter, A View From A Bridge and Jessie in Calendar Girls at The Noel Coward Theatre.
