Chef patron of two-Michelin starred restaurant Midsummer House in Cambridge, Daniel is widely regarded as one of the most inventive and gifted chefs of his generation. Renowned for his modern British cooking, underpinned by an unmistakably French style, Daniel reinvents British classics using the finest local produce.
He was awarded his first Michelin star in 2002 at Midsummer House, followed by his second in 2005. It was the only new restaurant to earn a second Michelin star that year, and became one of eleven restaurants in the UK and Ireland to be at that level of the Michelin Guide's scheme. The restaurant holds five AA Rosettes.
In 2014 Midsummer House was voted the Best Fine Dining Establishment in the UK and the second-best rated, Fine Dining Establishment in the World by the Travellers’ Choice Restaurant awards. One of the winners of the Great British Menu, Daniel has since become a regular TV personality appearing on the likes of MasterChef The Professionals and Saturday Kitchen. Daniel has been a judge on Celebrity MasterChef Ireland, co-presenting with Dubliner chef Robin Gill.
